SKETCHING GROUP AKA GARDEN GALS:The Sketch Group regularly meets in the Lower Gallery of Centennial Lodge (below where we have our garden club meeti ngs) on the third Wednesday of each month, January to November, 7:00 to 9:00pm. Everyone is invited to join the group and get inspired to actually sketch instead of just thinking about it. Just arrive with your sketch pad and set of pencils and a $2.00 drop in fee. The money goes into the donati on box at the Arts Council Gallery. Join this informal group – inspire each other to try new art techniques, share art world informa tion, form new friendships. Often a session results in spontaneous plans to car pool to an event. The group is known as The Garden Gals but the group would welcome a new moniker. Guys are welcome.

If you are interested in joining in the activities of this vibrant artistic group, contact Merril Hall.

Outings

We try to offer variety of outings and these will vary from year to year. These include tours of nurseries and commercial gardens, perhaps even an out of town trip, . We aim to give at least one month's notice before an outing, but sometimes a "not to be missed" opportunity falls into our lap at the last moment. Usually there are sign up sheets at our monthly meetings so the organizers can contact you with additional details. Fees are only charged to cover any costs.

Generally speaking, members are invited to bring guests along on the club outings. If any restrictions apply, members will be notified.

In the past, we have visited Southlands Nursery, Minter Gardens, the Delta Recycling Earthwise Garden, Valleybrook Gardens and Devan Greenhouses. We also attend the BC Council of Garden Clubs two annual meetings, and have arranged for group ticket discounts to the VanDusen Gardens Festival of Lights..

"If you are interested in gardening and horticulture, this is the club for you!"
